Every March 8th, the world pays tribute to the struggles and achievements of women in all areas of society. This day, born from the fight for equal rights, has become an opportunity to acknowledge the strength, determination, and invaluable contributions of women in building a better world.

The origin of this commemoration dates back to 1910, when at the Second International Socialist Women's Conference, held in Copenhagen, Clara Zetkin proposed establishing a special day to highlight the struggle of working women. Since then, March 8th has been a date for reflecting on the challenges that have been overcome and those that remain to be conquered.

In Cuba, the celebration of this date goes back to 1931, but it was with the triumph of the Revolution that activities truly highlighted the fundamental role of women in society.

To say "WOMAN" in our country is to speak of intertwined sensitivity and strength. Women, who create, persevere, build, and love, deserve constant tribute for their effort and tenderness in various aspects of daily life. Among them, women in the healthcare sector hold a special place.

Doctors, nurses, researchers, technicians, assistants, and many other healthcare professionals are the heart of a system that saves lives and ensures well-being. With unwavering dedication, they have been on the front lines during crises, brought healthcare to the most remote corners, and served as examples of commitment, sacrifice, and humanism. In hospitals, clinics, laboratories, and international missions, Cuban women in healthcare have demonstrated that their work is synonymous with hope and love.

Today, on International Women's Day, we pay tribute to their bravery, dedication, and effort, recognizing that their daily work is a fundamental pillar of our nation's development.

May this day serve to reaffirm our commitment to continuing the advancement of equality and the full recognition of their rights.

🌹Congratulations to all Cuban women, especially our heroic healthcare workers! 🌹
