Every September 29, the world comes together to commemorate World Heart Day, an initiative promoted by the World Heart Federation (WHF) that reminds us of the importance of caring for this vital organ and raising awareness about cardiovascular diseases (CVDs), the leading cause of death worldwide.
The figures speak for themselves: one in five people dies prematurely from CVDs, which claim more lives than cancer and chronic respiratory diseases combined. However, up to 80% of cases can be prevented through healthy habits and timely access to medical services.
Cardiology in Cuba: Comprehensive Training with a Practical Approach
Preventing and treating cardiovascular diseases requires highly trained healthcare professionals. In this regard, Cuba offers a Cardiology specialization program that prepares physicians with a solid scientific and practical foundation.The curriculum consists of 33 modules:
- 29 modules devoted to medical care, covering the diagnosis, treatment, prevention, and rehabilitation of diseases affecting the heart and blood vessels.
- 4 complementary modules in management, research, and teaching, strengthening the specialist's comprehensive training.
