Guardalavaca is one of Cuba's main sun and beach destinations. Located in the northeastern part of the country, the seaside resort that gives its name to the pole, famous worldwide for its natural beauty, is an ideal place to relax and enjoy the benefits of the tropics. The gratitude and satisfaction of the thousands of vacationers who visit it every year are quite common. However, this is not the only reason why Guardalavaca can make visitors smile.

This singular “other” reason to travel there dates back to the mid-1990s. While the tourist center was consolidating, new services, including health care, were urgently needed. This led to the opening, in 1988, of the Guardalavaca International Clinic, whose dentistry department has offered first-rate care for 26 years.

“This service was founded by Dr. Miguel Rodríguez Garrido, who currently remains here as a stomatologist. At first, he started attending to stomatological oral health and then incorporated the prosthesis system, which is what has been consolidating,” says Dr. Víctor González Pérez, director of the Holguin branch of Comercializadora de Servicios Médicos Cubanos S. A. 

González Pérez acknowledges that “the quality with which the stomatological service is provided, the professionalism shown, and the ethics maintained have been the main reason why, not only for Guardalavaca, but also for Comercializadora de Servicios Médicos Cubanos S.A., this is one of the services that gives prestige to the Ministry of Public Health. In addition, it generates more income for the financing of medicines and consumables, which are used today in the Public Health System to provide free care to the Cuban people”.

Much of this merit belongs to Dr. Miguel Rodríguez Garrido, a professional of vast knowledge and great ethical values. This is endorsed by a quarter of a century practicing stomatology there, with high satisfaction rates.

Every year, more than 1,400 patients pass through the hands of his team, made up of a prosthesis technician and his assistant. The excellent service they provide has earned them a well-deserved reputation in the country and abroad. 

“The office overlooks the gardens of the Guardalavaca Hotel and is equipped with a high-tech chair, digital X-rays, a suction system and other utensils that complement the comfort provided,” says the specialist.

Among the outstanding treatments are dental restorations and rehabilitations, whitening and prophylaxis (general cleaning of the teeth). The prestige gained has allowed him to participate and promote his services in different scientific events, such as national and international congresses, specialized fairs, in addition to the exchange with foreign colleagues.

The marketing and promotion of its services is done through the sales center, websites, social networks and Travel Agencies, along with that recommendation from smile to smile, final seal of quality care.
