For almost three years, the world has suffered the impact of COVID-19 caused by the SARS-CoV-2 virus. This disease, which defied the knowledge of the most experienced experts in the field, continues to leave its mark, even though the incidence of those infected has decreased significantly compared to the period 2020-2021. The after-effects of this disease continue to take their toll on the quality of life of those directly affected.
In order to mitigate the resulting disorders such as psychological disorders, chronic fatigue syndrome, respiratory, renal and cardiovascular disorders, among others, La Pradera International Health Center, the only one of its kind in Cuba, offers a comprehensive and intensive rehabilitation program aimed at achieving early physical and mental recovery, reducing the physical and motor functional consequences caused, and thus achieving early reincorporation into daily life activities.
La Pradera, with 26 years of experience in international medical care and specialized in medical health services for wellness and quality of life, as well as rehabilitation programs, focuses the treatment on holistic therapies that involve the body, mind and, in relation to post-COVID-19 rehabilitation, respiratory functional compensation with the participation of a group of experts in neurology, internal medicine, psychology, pneumology, cardiology and psychiatry; an integrative work methodology that achieves the perfect union between the new and the traditional.
The anti-COVID-19 vaccine protocols complement this service in a nation that, as of May 2022, was the first country in Latin America with five vaccine candidates, three of them approved by the Center for State Control of Medicines, Equipment and Medical Devices (CECMED) for use in emergency situations; with 85% of the products of national production used in the post-COVID-19 treatment protocol, an immunization coverage of 96.7% with 36 million doses applied, in addition to being the first country to vaccinate the entire pediatric population from 2 years of age onwards, according to José Angel Portal Miranda, Minister of Health of the Republic of Cuba, at the 75th World Health Assembly.
Referring to the anti-COVID-19 vaccine protocols, Dr. Ileana Reyes Álvarez, head of the Coordination and Processing Center of CSMC, S.A., emphasized that they are the result of the scientific development of the Cuban biotechnological sector, designed to prevent the appearance of serious diseases and consequently death, such is the case of Abdala and the Soberana series. As for the first drug, the vaccination scheme consists of three immunizations at 0, 14 and 28 days. At six months, it would be reinforced with the application of one dose. Meanwhile, the Soberana heterologous scheme consists of two doses of Soberana 02 at 28-day intervals and one dose of Soberana Plus at day 56. Likewise, a booster dose of Soberana Plus would be applied.
The possibility of requesting to be immunized with these Cuban vaccines is one of the opportunities offered by Destination Cuba to tourists visiting the island. For this, they should go to the medical office of the tourist institution where they are staying or to the nearest international health centers, where they will be provided with all the required information.
Health safety and medical attention in harmony with the natural environment is the proposal that the Cuban archipelago makes available to those who find in the largest Antillean Island the best option to rehabilitate themselves after the effects of COVID-19 on their health.
