Every February 4, the global community commemorates World Cancer Day and remembers the global fight against this disease that affects millions of lives every year. According to 2022 estimates, 19.9 million new cancer cases and 10 million deaths were registered worldwide, highlighting the urgent need for effective treatments.

In this context, Cuban Medical Services offers a glimmer of hope with revolutionary treatments developed on the island. The therapeutic vaccines CIMAvax-EGF® and Vaxira®, as well as the monoclonal antibodies CIMAher® and HeberFERON®, are essential tools in the fight against different types of cancer.

CIMAvax-EGF® and Vaxira®: treatment of lung cancer

For advanced-stage non-small cell lung cancer (IIIB and IV), Cuba offers pioneering treatments. CIMAvax-EGF®, a therapeutic vaccine, acts on the epidermal growth factor receptor, demonstrating remarkable benefits and tolerance even in elderly patients. On the other hand, Vaxira® shows an objective clinical response after chemotherapy, supported by evidence of tumor growth control.

Both therapies not only aim to combat the disease, but also improve the respiratory capacity and emotional well-being of patients. They are applied in two stages, following medical guidelines to achieve optimal results.
CIMAher®: for head and neck cancer

Comprehensive treatment with CIMAher® offers a promising alternative for advanced-stage head and neck cancer. This monoclonal antibody demonstrates effectiveness in combination with conventional therapies, showing positive responses in the control of the disease. It is also applied in malignant esophageal tumors and non-small cell lung cancer.

HeberFERON®: for basal cell carcinoma skin cancer.

HeberFERON®, a drug that combines recombinant human alpha and gamma interferon, represents hope for basal cell carcinoma skin cancer. With faster therapeutic responses, prolongation of effects for up to five years and a significant reduction in the frequency of new lesions, this monoclonal antibody avoids complex surgeries and their sequelae in delicate areas of the face and body.

These highly specialized oncological treatments represent a unique opportunity that Destino Cuba makes available to those seeking hope and a better quality of life. With the support of the National Health System, Cuba is positioned as a destination for those seeking innovative treatments and positive results in the fight against cancer.
