Cardiology is the branch of medicine dedicated to the study of heart diseases. It is the medical discipline or specialty responsible for the prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation of cardiovascular diseases.

Based on each of its functions, 33 modules were defined. Of these, 29 correspond to the medical care function, grouped into 6 areas, while the remaining 4 correspond to the other functions: administration, research, and teaching.

The curriculum is structured to be carried out within cardiology services, with full-time dedication in these services, integrating the professional component with academic and research activities.
