The specialty of Hematology is the medical discipline responsible for the study, diagnosis, and treatment of diseases of the hematopoietic system. This specialty is closely linked to other branches of medicine and science in general, such as immunology, molecular biology, biostatistics, epidemiology, and nuclear medicine.
The curriculum is structured to ensure that residents are primarily trained through education in practice. During the three years, residents are employed on a full-time, exclusive dedication basis within the assigned training unit.
A total of 17 modules have been defined according to the specialty’s functions. Of these, 13 correspond to medical care, while the remaining 4 address administration, research, and teaching.
At the end of the designated training period, residents must pass a state examination, which certifies that the graduate is qualified to practice as a Specialist in Hematology.
