Clinical Laboratory is the medical specialty that, through biological, microbiological, immunological, chemical, hematological, biophysical, cytological, pathological, or other types of tests performed on human-derived materials, provides information for the diagnosis, prevention, or treatment of any disease or injury, or for the assessment of human health.
The curriculum is structured into two training areas, composed of modules, to be developed over a three-year period with full-time dedication. Training takes place within healthcare services, integrating professional practice with academic, research, and management components. It also includes internships, courses, and rotations.
According to the functions of the specialty, 16 modules were defined: 9 correspond to medical care, while the remaining 7 are distributed among administration, research, and teaching.
