A specialist in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation is a physician who must be able to understand, prescribe, coordinate, and manage all medical, social, vocational, educational, and occupational resources and procedures aimed at preventing and treating diseases, as well as rehabilitating people with disabilities. This is achieved through the specific tools of the specialty (natural and artificial therapeutic physical agents, functional re-education methods, occupational therapy methods, technical orthopedics methods, and assistive devices).
The professional profile defines the functional responsibilities that the future specialist must fulfill. Four main roles are established: medical care, administration, research, and teaching-educational functions.
The curriculum is organized into six areas of training, structured in modules. These will be developed over a three-year period, requiring full-time dedication within health services, integrating work-based learning with academic, research, and management components.
