Nephrology is the branch of Medicine that deals with the study of kidney and urinary tract conditions in children and adults, their prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation through personal and continuous care, without losing sight of the individual as a biological, psychological, and social unit, to provide solutions to many defined medical problems for their care.
The content of the study plan adopted the modular system. The structure of the program was specified in 5 areas directly related to its object of work and study, derived from the guiding function of the system: medical care.
Considering each of the functions, 31 modules were defined. Of these, 27 correspond to the medical care function, which are grouped into 5 areas, and 4 correspond to each of the remaining functions: administration, research, and teaching.
The study plan was designed based on the distribution of areas and modules for 3 years of residency, with a full-time dedication, and contemplates during its development: stays, courses, and rotations, linking the work component with the academic and research components.
