Rheumatology is an instrumented clinical specialty that deals with the prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation of connective tissue diseases and those that affect the locomotor system. It presents a comprehensive conception of the individual as a biological, psychic, and social unit, in order to solve a large number of medical problems defined for their care. Rheumatology requires knowledge of Nephrology, Neurology, Orthopedics, Surgery, Rehabilitation, and Immunology, based on Internal Medicine and Pediatrics.
The Curriculum structures its contents into 2 areas of training, composed of 25 Modules. These will be developed over a period of 3 years, with a full-time dedication to training in the health services themselves, linking the work component with the academic, investigative, and management aspects. Considering each of the functions, 25 modules were defined. Of these, 21 correspond to the function of medical care, and 4 correspond to each of the remaining functions: administration, research, and teaching.
The Curriculum structures its contents to be carried out in the Rheumatology services, with a full-time dedication in the services themselves, linking the work component with the academic and investigative aspects. It was designed based on the distribution of areas and modules in 3 years of residency and contemplates during its development: stays, courses, and rotations.
