This institution is the largest in the province of Camagüey, recognized as a referent among the national centers specialized in Urology, Ophthalmology, Orthopedics and Neurology. It is considered a pioneer in cervical-lumbar laparoscopic surgery. The professionals who work there, in addition to the assistance work, guarantee the undergraduate education in Medicine, Bachelor in Nursing and Health Technologies. They also teach residents of several specialties. 

It has an accredited international medical care ward in the Ophthalmology service, which has three cubicles and four beds with companions, qualified personnel to take care of patients admitted or who comes for consultation.
