It was inaugurated on December 3, 1982. Its objective is to provide a medical care of excellency and assume the introduction and assimilation of the most advanced technology. Among its most meritorious successes are: organ and tissue transplants, interventional endoscopy, microsurgery, state-of-the-art imaging, extracorporeal lithotripsy, hyperbaric oxygenation, advanced techniques in histological and cytological diagnosis, highly complex surgical techniques and minimally invasive surgery.
