It was founded in 1966. It is a National Reference Center for the specialty and a Science and Technology Unit for Tertiary Care. It is a National Reference Center for the selection of patients for cardiac resynchronization therapy in heart failure, and also a pioneering center in the introduction of three-dimensional echocardiography.

It provides highly qualified services in all areas of cardiology with internationally recognized specialists and high technology in equipment and operating rooms. It provides outpatient services and also has three Intensive Care Units: Intensive Coronary Care, Post-Surgical Intensive Care and Cardio-Surgical Intensive Care, which allow offering high-quality, accessible, timely, efficient services with a high humanistic sense.
