The Master's Program in Bacteriology-Mycology at the Pedro Kourí Institute of Tropical Medicine (IPK) arose in response to the need to train Cuban and foreign professionals in specific areas of Bacteriology-Mycology. It has completed 26 editions and has two currently in progress.
This program combines theoretical and practical elements, offers flexibility through different organizational variations, and has a faculty of professors and tutors who are part of the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO) Collaborating Center for the study of Tuberculosis and other Mycobacteriosis. Therefore, they are highly qualified and specialized in the subjects they teach. Upon completion of the Master's program, professionals will be able to diagnose diseases of bacterial and mycotic etiology using direct or indirect methods, as well as transmit bacteriological and mycological criteria for the development of prevention and control measures for diseases caused by bacteria and fungi.
The program consists of three independent but related diplomas: Scientific Research in Health, Clinical-Epidemiological Bacteriology, and Clinical-Epidemiological Mycology. Within the diplomas, a total of 23 independent courses are taught, along with three Integrative Exercises (one in each diploma), three Thesis Workshops, and a final methodological workshop. The program culminates with the presentation and defense of a research paper (Thesis) that responds in all cases to one of the IPK's lines of research.
Duration: two years
Modality: blended learning (semi-presencial)
