Vector-borne infections are a cause of illness and death worldwide, and particularly in the Region of the Americas. Cuba has extensive experience in the management and control of these diseases, as well as in the development of high-impact programs for their control and prevention.
The Master's Program in Medical Entomology and Vector Control is taught at the Pedro Kourí Institute of Tropical Medicine (IPK). It fulfills the purposes of strengthening identity and cultural development in keeping with the times, with systematic updates of all topics and the constant improvement of the faculty's professors. This ensures that students, through their final projects, achieve sustainable socioeconomic success and that the impact of the research is very high at a scientific, social, and economic level.
The Program consists of three Diplomas: Scientific Research in Health, Bioecology and Vector-borne Diseases, and Vector Control. Within these, a total of 17 independent Courses, three Integrative Exercises (one in each diploma), three Thesis Workshops, and a final methodological Workshop are taught. The Program culminates with the presentation and defense of a research paper (Thesis) that responds to one of the IPK's lines of research.
Duration: 2 years.
