            This Master’s Degree in Atherosclerosis Research aims to enhance the training of health professionals in the field of applied research on atherosclerosis, in order to achieve positive results in health promotion, prevention, treatment, rehabilitation, risk factors, and organic consequences. It seeks to critically and reflectively analyze the various approaches to identify the most current problems related to atherosclerosis and its impact on health and quality of life, both nationally and internationally. Additionally, it is designed to enable the creation and evaluation of strategies, programs, projects, and methodologies that contribute to identifying and modifying the risk factors of the disease and its organic consequences.

            Graduates will be able, within the field of Health and particularly in Atherosclerosis, to: conduct research to advance theoretical and practical knowledge; design and manage educational strategies for health promotion to improve the population’s quality of life; create programs, projects, and methodologies aimed at the diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation of risk groups associated with atherosclerosis and its organic consequences; tutor and/or advise research; and participate in and lead multidisciplinary research teams, as well as contribute to the training of professionals and technicians in the field of atherosclerosis.

            Program structure: Divided into two major groups: theoretical–methodological program activities, which include 4 cycles (26 compulsory courses and 2 electives): Introduction to Research Methodology, Risk Factors, Research Methodology, and Consequent Diseases; and activities of the program’s core axis: Research (thesis workshops, publications, presentations at scientific events, and thesis defense).

            Duration: 22 months of coursework (blended learning with weekly one-day sessions), followed by one year for thesis defense (after the coursework is completed). These timelines may be adjusted or shortened according to specific interests.
