Hematology is the medical discipline responsible for the study, diagnosis, and treatment of diseases of the hematopoietic system. Developing a Master’s Degree program in this field will broaden the acquisition of knowledge and skills for conducting research, contribute to the optimal management of health problems related to immunohematology and proper hemotherapy practice, and deepen understanding of the fundamental elements of research that support clinical and laboratory diagnosis, as well as the treatment of various hematological diseases.
The objective of the Master’s Degree is to carry out research in the area of clinical hematology, integrating advanced technologies in the fields of immunology, cytogenetics, and molecular biology into the research process. It is hosted at the Institute of Hematology and Immunology and has a duration of 18 months (1 year and 6 months), full-time and on-site, with a total of 2,820 hours, distributed as 420 hours of academic activities and 2,400 hours of independent work. The program awards a maximum of 98 credits and a minimum of 94 credits corresponding to compulsory academic activities, plus up to four free credits for additional program activities.
It is designed for medical doctors specialized in: Comprehensive General Medicine, Internal Medicine, Pediatrics, Clinical Laboratory, and Intensive and Emergency Medicine. Its faculty, with experience in the preparation and publication of scientific, academic, and regulatory literature, have the expertise required for their role in the program.
