            Research in the field of Transfusion Medicine from a social perspective makes it possible to meet societal demands to ensure the safe administration of blood, establish programs to minimize adverse effects in the application of transfusion therapy, and incorporate advanced technological methods in the collection and processing of blood components. It also involves applying and evaluating effective hemotherapy schemes and developing stem cell therapy for the treatment of various diseases, particularly congenital and malignant ones. Furthermore, the development of this Master’s Degree includes strengthening scientific research activity, social interaction, the advancement of investigations in multidisciplinary teams, and increasing the intellectual output of its students. All of these directly contribute to improving the professional performance of its graduates, who all work within the hematology field.

            The program is hosted by the Institute of Hematology and Immunology (IHI), founded in 1966 and recognized as a Science and Technology Center at the Third Level of Health Care. The institute is dedicated to providing top-level medical care, teaching, and research in the specialties of Hematology and Immunology. In addition to training more than 200 physicians in both specialties, the IHI has also prepared other professionals dedicated to Transfusion Medicine through the continuous delivery of numerous training courses and workshops for medical staff, professionals from other specialties and fields, as well as mid-level technicians working in Transfusion Medicine, both nationally and internationally.
