The Master’s Degree in Community Mental Health fosters the development of skills to seek scientific solutions to health problems identified in the community, within both the knowledge area and professional practice. It also contributes to the strengthening of positive qualities such as independence at work, creativity, and research capacity, all of which are reflected in the final course work (thesis) in the fields of Psychology and Psychiatry.
The program benefits from inter-institutional collaboration with 16 institutions, including six Community Mental Health Centers, Calixto García Hospital, 10 de Octubre Hospital, Hermanos Ameijeiras Hospital, and the National School of Public Health. The faculty is distinguished by its academic and professional excellence, comprising 2 Doctors of Science, 51% PhDs in specific scientific fields, and 41% Second-Degree Specialists.
The program provides both core and complementary bibliographic resources, including works by renowned Cuban and international authors in the field of Mental Health. Its curriculum design stands out for its scientific and professional coherence, aligned with the requirements of the Cuban social project.
Objectives:
Assess the Mental Health situation of a community, starting from the Health Situation Analysis and conducting a Mental Health Diagnosis.
Design Community Intervention techniques that allow for proper implementation and evaluation.
Lead health actions in Community Mental Health Centers and/or Mental Health Teams, based on the application of management process functions.
Conduct quantitative and qualitative research on priority problems in Mental Health.
Duration: 16.5 months.
