The Alzheimer’s Studies Center of the Finlay Albarrán Faculty of Medicine (University of Medical Sciences of Havana) has accumulated extensive experience in epidemiological research, diagnosis, community intervention, and the training of professionals and other health sector stakeholders in the social approach to this disease, with a strong focus on primary health care.
Its purpose is to train and empower professionals capable of promoting brain health and conducting research on dementias in an integrated manner, addressing their epidemiological, etiopathogenic, neuropsychological, behavioral dimensions, as well as the impact these conditions have on patients, their families, and society as a whole. This program also covers the study of cognitive disorders and the risk factors associated with dementia.
The curriculum consists of 11 compulsory modules, 3 thesis workshops, 4 elective courses, and the final dissertation.

Cognitive Disorders, Dementias, and Alzheimer’s Disease
Neuropsychology
Communication, Society, and Health
Applied Gerontology and Geriatric Clinic in Patients with Cognitive Impairment
Mental Health and Palliative Care
Community-Based Dementia Care
The program is complemented by short rotations at various levels of the national health system.
The Master’s Degree is delivered in a blended learning format, requiring the student’s on-site presence for three months each academic year, with the final year dedicated to completing the thesis and presenting the dissertation.
