Cataract can be congenital or appear at any stage of life, although more frequent after turning 60 when is age-related, both in men and women. The cataract produces a slow and progressive decrease in vision. The treatment is surgical and the moment to perform the surgery is determined by the patient and the doctor, depending on the limitations it can produce.

The Cuban ophthalmologists who provide this service have extensive experience in cataract surgery. Their prestige and expertise is endorsed by their practice in Cuba and in other countries, as part of the "Milagro" surgery program, which has restored vision to millions of persons in Latin America. 

The program is performed on an outpatient basis, but it is possible to be hospitalized at the institution, upon patient's request. After the initial consultation, the physician may propose other investigations that could be necessary and considered and are not included in this program.
