More than six decades of the historic Triumph of the Revolution were celebrated today by the workers of the Ministry of Public Health (Minsap), a meeting in which José Angel Portal Miranda, Minister of the sector, said that 2022 has been a year in which the acquired experiences have led to greater human and professional growth in the national health system.

The commitment and dedication of our doctors, nursing staff, technologists of Health, students, and workers of the most diverse areas associated with the medical sector, have made it possible to achieve the epidemiological stability of the nation and in turn to advance in other actions that support the care of the population in health institutions.

 Even though the COVID-19 epidemic was brought under control this year, he commented, health professionals had to overcome great difficulties, such as the lack of supplies and medicines, the dengue epidemic, the explosion of the Saratoga hotel and the fire at the Matanzas Supertankers base.

In the face of so many challenges, the resilience of our workers has been admirable, because thanks to their preparation and professionalism, they have not stopped their efforts to advance in the fulfillment of the vital indicators for the system.

We have the challenge of knowing how to take advantage of the lessons learned from this year to advance in the improvement of the National Health System, he said.

He also pointed out that for the next year, priority will be given to the fulfillment of the policies and guidelines approved for the sector and the work objectives of the Minsap, in accordance with the National Economic and Social Development Plan until 2030, vital points to achieve a higher quality of the services provided to the population.

During the event, eleven workers of the agency were awarded the Manuel "Piti" Fajardo Rivero distinction, and more than 30 received diplomas of recognition for their contribution to Cuban public health during this year from the hands of the Minister of Health and the General Secretary of the Health Union. The activity was also the occasion for the presentation of the Cuban Communist Party membership card to a new member who joined its ranks.

The event, which was attended by Dr. Santiago Badía González, General Secretary of the National Union of Health Workers, was attended by deputy health ministers, Minsap executives and a large representation of its workers.
